* Easy on the Eyes *

( Black Sunglasses - Firmoo / Silver Notebook - Paperchase )

Hello lovelies!

I've been lucky to have spent the last three weeks on a break from uni. Although I haven't done much, (apart from wearing pyjamas all day and watching episodes of New Girl on repeat), it's been nice to take a break from computer screens and cuddle up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a good, old book.

I've also been enjoying the winter sun that's been shining exceptionally bright, even tricking me into thinking that Spring is on its way! But when I step outside, I'm quickly reminded that it is still winter. Coupled with the white snow, the sun's glare can be tough on the eyes and so I decided to invest in a pair of sunglasses, well before the arrival of summer. I selected this lovely pair from Firmoo, an online optical store specialising in sunglasses to suit everyone. I like understated frames and chose this simple, yet stylish design. The hint of tortoise shell on the frame adds a lovely touch, and I can't wait to wear these throughout the year. The sunglasses came with a sturdy case, cleaning cloth and a very useful mini screwdriver, for when those legs start to wobble!

Have any of you heard of Firmoo before? Let me know in the comments below! :)

More soon,

Helen

(Grey Jacket - SheInside / Cami Top - DKNY / Black Jeans - ASOS / Shoes - M&S)

Hello lovelies!
Today's post is slightly different, for as you can see I'm wearing jeans! I know, I'm shocked too haha! It's always a rare occasion to see me in jeans, as I'm usually a dress/skirt kind of girl - black tights are like a second skin to me. However, I wanted to change this look up a little bit and break from my usual status quo. I found this vintage DKNY silk style cami top in my local charity shop for £1 - This is why a trip to your local charity shop is always a must! The teal colour caught my eye instantly and I knew it would work well with my new grey tweed jacket from SheInside. The coat has a lovely fitted style which gives a smart silhouette, helping to turn any casual outfit into a formal, evening look. It's not very noticeable in the pictures, but the jacket is detailed with light gold threading which shines subtly in the light - another reason to love this cute number!
From previous outfit posts, you may have realised by now that I have a serious love for vintage necklaces - the more statement, the better. I'm excited to show you all my newest addition to the collection. I found this beauty on eBay and I think it helps to complete the whole look. What do you guys think? Should I wear jeans more often?
More soon,

iPhone 6 case from Iconemesis

Hello lovelies!

A few weeks ago, just before christmas, I decided to treat myself to an early festive gift - I bought myself an iPhone 6. I’ve only had two iPhones in my life, the first being an original 3GS which lasted me almost five years!! The old guy finally packed in at the start of December, and whilst it was so hard to say goodbye, the blow of losing such an old friend was quickly forgotten about with the arrival of my shiny, new, rose gold baby.

When one gets a new phone, they also get the fun of choosing a pretty case to go with it. I was very excited to see a new range of iPhone cases on Iconemesis. I've talked about this brand before (you can read my previous post here) and I'm still in love with the wide collection of cute designs. Since I need to protect my new phone, I browsed the online collection and selected this unique feather design. Not only does the case look lovely, but it's also very sturdy and made from high-quality material, helping me to protect my phone and giving me reassurance that my new baby is safe. Many of the phone cases featured on Iconemesis are limited edition designs created by independent artists and illustrators, so you can be sure that no-one will turn up with the same case as you. The website currently has a big january sale, so get browsing! :)

What do you think of my new case? Have you heard of Iconemesis before?

White Lace Dress

SheInside Lace Dress

White Lace Dress

Hello lovelies!
Who else is completely fed up of the freezing cold 'sweater-weather'?! I find winter can be particularly hard to dress for, since I always have to pile on layers of clothing underneath what I really want to show off - last week I'd had enough. Determined to show you all my delightful new dress from SheInside, but to ensure that I didn't freeze to death from the harsh winds howling outside, I made a little visit to my nearby indoor tropical gardens. It's always a relaxing place to visit and I quickly heated up whilst admiring the vast collection of exotic plants. It was lovely to see so many of the plants begin to bloom and I now can't wait for the arrival of spring - Hurry up, I've missed you!
Speaking of spring, I'm excited to show you all my new lace dress, perfect for the warmer months ahead. I selected this laced beauty from SheInside last month, and I will admit, I was a little bit wary on the sizing. However, I was thankfully thrilled when the dress fitted like a glove. I've never had any item tailored to fit, but this certainly feels like I have. I particularly love the long sleeves which will keep me warm throughout the 'unpredictable' Scottish summer. The delicate lace adds just the right amount of sweet, feminine style that I love, but the look can be easily toughened up with black tights (however, far too cold to take them off just yet) and a leather jacket for evening!

(Dress - New Look / Jumper - eBay / Necklace - Gift / Shoes - Office)

Hello Lovelies!

Quick post today - Snapped these pictures whilst I was running out the door on my way into town! I'm finally finished my uni coursework (hallelujah!), and now have three lovely weeks off to do absolutely nothing, and I plan to do exactly that! Some of you might be thinking 'Holidays already?! It's only January!' but I had a mountain of coursework to finish over Christmas and I never really got to properly relax... (Don't hate me too much, haha!)

Of course I'll try and blog as much as possible - I have a number of new outfits to share with you all - but I'm looking forward to putting my feet up, catching up with my favourite TV shows and distancing myself away from technology for a while. One of my New Year resolutions was to take a break/ cut back on the amount of time I spend on my phone and laptop. In fact, I can hardly remember the last time I sat down with a proper good book and spent a few hours reading. Instead, I'm constantly refreshing my Instagram feed and catching up with friends on Facebook. As much as I love it, I think sometimes it's good to just switch your phone off, relax and focus on the real world. Do you guys agree?

More soon,

Helen

* A Day at the Ballet *

Hello Lovelies!

Firstly, I'd like to wish you all a Happy 2015, and all the best for the year ahead! I kicked off the New Year with a horrible bout of flu and a mountain of coursework to get through, which explains my lack of blogging lately - Sorry! Whilst I've had no time to take #ootd posts, I'd like to share with you all my recent trip to the ballet...

* Alice's Adventures in Wonderland *

 (All images from the Royal Opera House)

As a Christmas treat, my mum spoils the family by taking us on a trip to the ballet. As much as we wish it could be a live dancing performance in a theatre, we usually attend a streamed show at our local cinema (still just as great!). This year we had the pleasure of viewing the ballet adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic story, Alice in Wonderland, and the thrilling performance kept us mesmerised from start to finish. The story stayed true to the childhood classic, starting with Alice following the white rabbit down the rabbit hole, where things seem to get curiouser and curiouser. On her journey through Wonderland, Alice encounters countless creatures and bizarre characters from the extraordinary Queen of Hearts, tap-dancing Mad Hatter and an eerily ghost-like Cheshire Cat. Let's not forget the valiant and charming Knave of Hearts who sweeps Alice off her feet, but is on the run from the Queen for stealing one of her jam tarts...
The imaginative tale is complete with incredibly intricate sets and colourful costumes, which helped to make the story come alive and make Wonderland, wonderfully real.
