* Late to the Party *

Hello lovelies!

I'll quickly apologise for the lack of blogging recently! From my last post, you may have read that it was my birthday last week, and I had a very busy weekend celebrating with family and friends. I had a wonderful day filled with fun, food and fancy presents - thank you for all the kind messages on social media! I've written a post about my day which I plan on sharing with you all soon! :)

Now I know I'm a little late to the party, and some may think that pink coats are 'so 2013', but I couldn't resist picking up this sweet number from SheInside. My regular readers will know by now that I have hundreds of dresses and even more necklaces, however I severely lack in the jacket department. I have two main coats that I wear religiously and I can really struggle when it comes to finding a style I like. However, I saw this coat online and it instantly appealed - The light pink shade makes it a perfect item for Spring, and can be easily paired with other items.
Today, I decided to style my new coat with some skinny jeans and top - a fairly simple look as I wanted to let the coat do all the talking. I bought this old H&M top on eBay for about £2. I absolutely love the sequinned scallop hem detailing - it adds such a lovely touch and a subtle sparkle to the entire outfit.
What do you think of my SheInside coat?
Are any of you still rocking the pink coat trend?
More soon,

Helen

* A Beautiful Friendship *

Hello lovelies!

Ok. We are fast approaching the end of March - when did that happen?! It feels like only last weekend I was celebrating the New Year, and now we are almost into April... Wow! I'm a little sad that March is almost over as it's my favourite month. Not only is it my birthday on the 26th (only 6 days to go - whoop!) but I always know that March will bring the lighter days and the warmer weather; I can already see the start of the summer flowers beginning to show their pretty little heads!
Anyways, onto my outfit! I first noticed this white skirt last year in the ASOS sale. It struck me as quite a unique piece, and I was initially drawn to the net detailing on the hem. I didn't purchase the skirt immediately however I began to imagine all sorts of outfits I could create with it - a white skirt in summer is a necessity!

However once the ASOS parcel arrived through my door, I had some second thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I think the skirt is lovely (I did decide to keep it after all), but I find it particularly difficult to style.
I recently received this black lace top from Style London, and I was delighted to discover that the two are a perfect match. I'm always a fan of monochrome outfits, as they never fail to look smart and, oh so chic! I'd been waiting for a classic top like this one to come along and match my awkward skirt, and now I've found it! These two are very content with one another and I believe it's the start of a beautiful friendship.
Have any of you got an item that is particularly hard to style? How do you think I should wear my skirt next time?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

* On Wednesdays We Wear Blue *

Hello lovelies!
Something that has been making me happy lately is the surge of bright clothing into my wardrobe. It must be psychological, as every time I see sunshine, I want to wear colour! Speaking of colour, this electric blue dress caught my eye on the SheInside website last month, and I knew I had to have it for spring – I’m a sucker for lace and anything girly, if you hadn't already noticed!

The ladies from SheInside were kind enough to send this blue beauty over and it arrived very quickly. For those of you who are interested in purchasing from SheInside, I would definitely recommend that you measure yourself before you buy. This will help to make sure your item fits correctly. I have found the clothing to be very true to size and I’ve been delighted to receive another item which feels like it’s been personally tailored.

Although I knew the measurements, this dress is quite short and I would have liked to have been brave enough to forgo the black tights. However, with the extreme winds we’ve had lately (remind me to stop taking blog pictures outside; 1. I almost always freeze to death and 2. My hair goes mental and decides it has a life of its own), I’ve been grateful for an extra layer of clothing to save my modesty. I also think the mixture of black and blue (not white and gold...) works well together and the striking colour still stands out beautifully.
What do you guys think of my dress? Have you ever purchasing from SheInside before? Let me know in the comments below!
More soon,

Helen

* My Life Lately *

Hello lovelies!

I love to share these weekly picture posts with you all - These are photos that I share over on my Instagram account (@ElectricSunrise). Instagram is one of my favourite apps and I love sharing pictures with my followers, and discovering new inspiration everyday. Last week in particular, I came across the artwork of David Fleck, Karen Hofstetter and Cat Coquillette, artists with some lovely designs which are very insta-worthy!

You have probably noticed that I'm a fan of photographing flowers. I'm very lucky to live in a house that always has an abundance of fresh flowers, and they are far too pretty not to snap! I have recently also been enjoying the start of Spring with some idyllic countryside walks. The sun has been shining bright but the cold, brisk air has been refreshing and helps to clear my mind (or avoid any coursework that I have to do...).

(Sunglasses on a sunny day / Scottish Countryside / Homemade Rock Cakes on a Sunday)

Lastly, of course, an Instagram feed would not be complete without some drool-worthy 'foodporn' pics. I was thrilled to come home after a long day at uni to some homemade pancakes on Shrove Tuesday - when I was little I loved to make a pancake tower, using Nutella to stick the pancakes together. Sadly, we were out of Nutella this year, so settled for second best - jam and cream! My mum is truly a pro-baker and loves to make homemade rock cakes every weekend, it simply wouldn't be sunday without them! :)

I hope you have all enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments below which photo is your favourite! Be sure to follow me and view more of my pictures over on Instagram;
