Inspiration with Esprit

Hello Lovelies!

So it's that time of year again... Summer! I think nothing symbolises the season to me like the purchase of a new dress, and I'm always on the look out for a colourful creation that will last me throughout the warmer months. This pretty pink design from Esprit instantly caught my eye - I love how it could be dressed down with a pair of stylish (but comfy) sandals for a day spent sight-seeing around your favourite city, or even for a relaxing picnic at a local park. It could then be easily dressed up with heels and sparkling accessories for an evening spent at dinner, enjoying a cocktail (or two!) and maybe even a theatre show. Being the lover of Polyvore that I am, I couldn't wait to create this outfit. Add a sun hat and a cider in one hand, and you'll be set for a stylish summer!

Inspiration with Esprit

Oh, and let's not forget about a jacket, right? Around this time of year, I especially love it when the weather is warm enough to venture outside without a coat! Of course, living in Scotland the weather can be a gamble so it's always a good idea to carry a cover-up just in case it gets chilly! I think a denim jacket is the perfect item to throw in your bag, as it's almost always guaranteed to match every summer dress in existence - the two just work together so well!
What's your favourite item of clothing during summer?

Petite Pink

(Dress/ Top - Glamorous/ Skirt - Republic (old)/ Pink Coat - SheInside/ Shoes - New Look/ Watch - Daniel Wellington/ Handbag - H&M)

Hey lovelies!
It's always a tense moment when you put some of your favourite clothes in the wash, especially those delicate pieces you just know might shred or shrink with the slightest increase in temperature or speed. I'm always crushed when an item reappears too sizes too small and sadly, last week, the washing machine claimed another one of my dresses.
Yes, the pink floral top I'm wearing today used to be a dress which fell to my knees. I'm now lucky if I can get it past my hips! But hey, let's try and look on the bright side - Ok, my dress has shrunk but I've now gained a new top, which is perfect for sunny, summer days. The white collar was what originally attracted me to the dress in the first place, so I'm just happy I still get to wear it and show it off in all it's glory. Paired with my pink coat and leather skirt, it has proved to be quite the pretty little outfit. So if you ever find yourself, like me, freaking out and battling with the washing machine, don't worry. There are always other ways to keep wearing your favourites! :)
More soon,

Helen

An Old Favourite

(Dress - Zara (old)/ Black Jacket & Shoes - New Look/ Watch - c/o Daniel Wellington/ Satchel Bag - ASOS)

Hello lovelies!

Well, it's been a busy week.
I started a short work placement at a local advertising agency in the city, and I've spent the last few days working away on a project with them, whilst concentrating on my own digital marketing dissertation - it's a good thing I can multi-task! ;) I haven't had time to do much work experience in the past, so it's been great to have the opportunity to do something different and not be stuck behind my desk all day... Well, technically I still am, but at least I'm working on something completely new and exciting, and I'm able to get a taste for what real working life will be like (doesn't seem too bad so far...).
When I'm on a work placement, I realise I need to look smart and professional. Never one to conform easily to the usual white shirt and black skirt combo, I always reach for this old Zara number. I remember buying this dress about 3 years ago in the Zara store in London whilst on a shopping trip with friends. I remember how the cute and colourful print stood out from the usual palette of black and grey, and I was instantly attracted to the peter pan collar and swallow bird pattern. It's been a trusty, old favourite ever since and I tend to wear it to things like job interviews, internships and just general fancy events - It never fails to let me down. As I'm nearing the end of my student life and on the job search, will I be introducing work wear to you all? Who knows, but if it means I can wear dresses like this, then I can't wait!

Making Memories with SoloPress

Hello lovelies!

I was recently contacted by SoloPress, who have launched an exciting new campaign called ‘A Little Memory’. The campaign aims to raise money and awareness for Little Havens Care Hospice. The hospice is located in Essex and provides care for little youngsters in need. The hospice specializes in caring for children with life threatening conditions, and helps them to make amazing memories.

In order to raise awareness for the campaign, I was fortunate enough to receive a personalised ‘memory book’ from SoloPress, featuring a number of my own favourite moments. I had to select 15 images that hold a special meaning or memory behind them, whether that be a significant birthday, weekend away with friends or a throwback to my childhood. I decided to theme my book around my time spent at university. Over the last four years, I’ve met some amazing people, made life-long friends and had the opportunity to travel to new and exciting places. The memory book includes pictures from when I was living in Denmark with the best girls, crazy adventures that we took along the way, and an emotional graduation with my lovely ladies. I will always look back on my time at university with very fond memories, and I’m now thrilled to have these special moments brought to life in a book for me. The lovely package I received also included some extra gifts, which was incredibly kind – ‘One Line A Day’ is a book that I have been lusting after for ages, I can’t wait to start filling this in! SoloPress were also kind enough to include a selfie stick, so that I can continue to make amazing memories – thank you!

So you might be asking what this has got to do with Little Havens? Well this is the point where you can get involved. Do you have a special memory behind a certain picture? SoloPress is asking for YOU to share one of your favourite memories over social media using #ALittleMemory. I encourage challenge you to share with and nominate friends, family and followers to take part. Why you ask? Well, for every tweet that uses the hashtag and nominates a friend, SoloPress will be donating £1 to the Little Havens Charity. This is a fantastic cause to get behind, and one that I am proud and happy to be sharing with you all today. Keep an eye on my social media accounts over the weekend, as I’ll be sharing a few of my favourite moments for you all to see. If you would like to read more about the campaign, click here.

Daniel Wellington Watch Review & Discount: The Classy Sheffield

Hello lovelies!

Last week I was thrilled to receive an email from Daniel Wellington HQ asking if I would like to review one of their watches. Would I?! Of course I would! I jumped at the opportunity as I've been a fan of the watch brand for many months now. Like me, you guys might have seen a number of bloggers already talk about the brand, and I'm thrilled to be able to join the discussion. For those of you who may not have come across them before, Daniel Wellington are a Swedish brand, specialising in quality watches with a range of classic and timeless designs. I was instantly drawn to the ladies 'Classy Sheffield' watch for a number of reasons; it's minimalistic style; subtle rose gold details; light and thin black leather strap; OH and let's not forget the beautiful circle of sparkling Swarovski crystals that makes the clock face shine!! Being a lover of thin, understated and simple watches, this watch ticks so many boxes for me. I've never seen such a pretty looking watch and I can't wait to wear and show off this beauty!

I'm aware some people might be wary of bloggers who post about items they have received from brands (I'm actually writing a dissertation on this topic....), but I can honestly tell you guys that I was throughly impressed with the Daniel Wellington service. Not only did UPS deliver the package straight from Sweden to my door in a matter of days, but the watch was safely enclosed in a sturdy leather and suede trimmed box that looked luxurious the moment it was opened. I'm really, really happy with this item and would 100% have bought this watch for myself. After receiving this, I'm even tempted to buy this baby in a variety of colours, I love it that much.

Finally, I'm excited to let you know that I'm not the only one who gets to have all the fun - Daniel Wellington are offering my lovely blog readers a discount code when purchasing a watch! If you'd like to treat yourself, pop over to www.danielwellington.com and make sure you enter the code: 'electricsunrise' at the checkout to receive your discount!
Have you got a Daniel Wellington watch? What do you think of the Classy Sheffield?
