My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // This time of year is alllll about lying on the sofa in front of a warm fire and watch great movies, or playing classic board games with friends and family. Sadly it wasn't a white christmas, but we don't need an excuse to stay all warm and cozy in doors. I had a movie night with friends last week - just good company, some mulled wine, classic movies and an abundance of popcorn... it was perfect!

ASOS Sequin Skirt - Outfit of the Day

Merry Christmas // It's Christmas Day! Wishing all my blog readers and followers a very Merry Christmas - I hope your day is full of love, laugher and most importantly, food. I'm sharing a quick few snaps of my outfit today - I'm wearing this super shiny sequin skirt that I bought from ASOS a couple of years back - it instantly caught my eye and the inner magpie inside of me couldn't resist. This skirt usually makes a grand appearance at this time of year and if you can't dress up on Christmas Day, when can you?! Although I love to look glamorous on a day like today, it's safe to say that as soon as it's time for the Christmas meal, I'll quickly be in my pjs, or anything with an elasticated waist for that matter...

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Ahhhh... Christmas is only two days away!! I can't quite believe how fast 2016 has flown by - it will soon be the new year and honestly, that scares me. I remember being a young kid and thinking the six-week summer holiday felt like a lifetime - now, six-weeks goes by in the blink of an eye... Anyways, I'm trying to make myself feel festive and I'm writing this whilst listening to cheesy, Christmas tunes - Last Christmas by Wham is my hands down favourite and I also love the cover by Florence and the Machine. My instagram pictures are not very festive, in fact, they are very pink and girly at the moment - but these images are too cute not to share, am I right?!

Light In The Box Handbag Review 2016

Light In The Box // Hello loves, hope you're having a great week and excited for the arrival of Christmas, it's just round the corner. I feel as though Christmas has come early for me though, with the arrival of this new handbag from online store, Light In The Box. I was contacted by company rep, Flora, who offered me the chance to review one of their products. I was initially quite wary when it came to ordering, as they are not based in the UK. Fortunately, Flora was on hand to help and answers all my questions and queries. I decided to review one of their handbags - I've been after a medium sized bag for some time and this sleek, black and gold number stood out among the rest. From my pervious post here, you'll know I love everything 'black and gold' so it's no real surprise that I ended up choosing this item...

Black and Gold Dress - Outfit of the Day

Black and Gold // Ahhhh black and gold. To me, it's the perfect combination. It's effortless, classy and stylishly simple. All my favourite accessories are black and gold (bags, shoes and belts) and it's probably the reason why this dress is also a firm favourite. I bought this shiny number from Urban Outfitters years ago and it's always been great to wear over the Christmas period - it's perfect for any night out! It has a unique print that instantly caught my eye, with a hint of glitter and sparkle that I think is a necessity for this time of year!

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Christmas time is just the best - we can eat as much as we want and not feel (too) guilty! It's also the best time of year for everyone to get together, catch up over mulled wine or battle it out over the Monopoly board. One of my favourite winter hobbies is to watch as many movies as possible over the Christmas break. Whether it's festive themed, murder mystery thriller or animation adventure, I just love to curl up on the sofa in front of the fire and get lost in a great movie. What kind of things do you like to do over the Christmas break? Let me know in the comments below!

Best Dressed - The British Fashion Awards 2016

The British Fashion Awards // The British Fashion Awards took place last week at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The annual event attracts fashionable celebrities from all around the world and we saw some of our favourite stylish stars hit the red carpet. Although there were a few interesting, adventurous and just plain 'wacky' outfits, many celebs did not disappoint. I've decided to share my favourite looks from the fashionable night - and it's not just the ladies that stood out, several men looked pretty smart too!

Red Velvet Dress - Outfit of the Day

A Christmas Classic // I know what you're thinking - velvet for winter? Groundbreaking. But it's a classic christmas fabric for a reason and it's one which I love (you'll probably already know this if you read my previous post here). It's just one of those materials that bring back so many memories for me, particularly for this time of year. This dress is an old one, bought as a maxi dress from my local charity shop and chopped up so that I didn't look too Elizabethan. Although I probably cut it too short (dammit), it's still really warm and perfect to layer up with leggings and a thick jumper. It also looks great for a night out - just throw on a statement necklace and leather jacket, and you're good to go!

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Christmas is just around the corner and I finally heard my first festive song of the season - Fairytale of New York, what a classic! Although I love this time of year, I'm definitely dreaming of summer and warms days by the beach... I think my mood is reflected in my Instagram posts lately, with many throwback posts to last spring. I've been sharing some interior inspiration too - who doesn't love a Pinterest binge? I've created a huge board of what I hope my future house will look like one day... One can dream, eh? I've really enjoyed reading lately and I've challenged myself to read more classic novels. I am definitely going to have a reading corner like the one below in my future home, it's gorgeous!

Best Party Dresses for Christmas 2016

Party Season // Being a self-confessed lover of dresses, it would only be right to put together a list compiled with the best part dresses for Christmas 2016. We've seen party dresses be incredibly important for decades, with glamorous women making dramatic entrances in gorgeous designs. I've always loved dressing up at this time of year [if you can't look a million dollars at Christmas time, when can you?!]. I've searched the web and collected my favourite outfits available at the moment, ranging from  the classic LBD to the shiny sequinned number, guaranteed to make sure you stand out for all the right reasons.

DKNY Turqouise Top - Outfit of the Day

Winter Blues // I know what you're thinking and yes, I was very cold posing for these pictures but that's a pain I'm willing to endure for this old blog of mine... haha! As you'll know from my previous outfit posts (here, here and here), I've become quite obsessed with this faux leather skirt from Warehouse. It's become a wardrobe staple for me and seems to match so many items - to be honest, I've also become quite lazy when it comes to 'style' and always opt for warm, 'easier to throw on' options instead. I picked up this DKNY cami top at my local charity shop - I think it's actually meant to be a pyjama top but the blue colour is too pretty not to show off and wear outside! It's really thin though and not ideal for harsh winter days so I tend to wear another top underneath, or throw on one of my many thick wooly jumpers until I start to resemble a marshmallow...

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Hello loves, hope you've had a wonderful week. Can you believe we are so close to Christmas?! The year has honestly flown by! I love this time of year though - everything is warm and cozy, there's an endless supply of hot chocolate and I seem to develop an endless craving for sugary snacks - yes, not great for the figure but it's Christmas, right? That always seems to be my go-to 'excuse'.

Striped Top and Black Skirt - Outfit of the Day

Keep it Simple, Stupid // K.I.S.S - who remembers learning this acronym at school? Whenever I'm writing a report, article or even a text, sometimes it's better to keep things simple. I believe this can also be applied to fashion - less is always more - and was definitely my thinking behind this outfit. Yes, it's super simple but also effortlessly stylish? I've been wearing this skirt non-stop since I bought it back in August - it's that staple piece that just seems to match everything so well. I paired this simple striped top from Primark, alongside my trusty fringed bag from H&M, and voila - simple, understated and stylish. Well, at least I think so... ;)

Instagram // How has your week been my loves? I honestly cannot believe just how fast the year is flying by... It seems as though it was only Summer a few weeks ago, but now we are seeing the start of December?! When did that happen?! Anyways, I'm sharing another dose of inspirational pictures from my Instagram account - you'll notice there are lots of autumnal themed pictures, mainly cozy cups of coffee and gorgeous sunsets... I do love sharing a wonderful motivation quote too, as they always help to brighten my day! :)

Jilly Jilly Design - Personalised Mug Competition

Jilly Jilly Design // Hello lovelies, hope you've had a great week. You'll no doubt know from my weekly instagram update posts [see here, here and here], that I'm  huge fan of the social platform. It allows me to share, post and find inspirational and motivational pictures, come across new brands and products and interact with so many different people across the world. A couple of months ago, I stumbled across a company called Jilly Jilly Design and instantly fell in love with their quirky & kitsch range of products. Last week I saw that the company were having a giveaway competition and knew I had to enter. It seems like I'm a very lucky duck, because low and behold, I only went and bloody won!

Pink Floral Dress - Outfit of the Day

Comfort over Style? // I've spent the last week battling a horrible cold. It started on Monday and I'm still trying to shake it off. Luckily, I work part time so I've been able to hibernate in my bed half the week. My outfits have mainly consisted of cosy pyjamas, fluffy socks and a mountain of blankets. When you feel like rubbish, deciding what to wear can be hard - oh how I wish it was acceptable to wear a onesie to work... When I had to venture outside, I opted for something super comfortable. I threw on this smock 'love heart' print dress that I've had for god knows how many years, and paired with a warm knitted jumper from H&M - I think I still managed to look smart, regardless of the red nose and snotty tissues in my hand...

Instagram // Hello loves, I hope you've had a great week! I'm sharing another load of pictures with you all - these snaps were taken over the last few weeks and feature my love for food, particularly poached eggs with avocado and good, old spaghetti bolognese! The winter months call for delicious food and we need to build up that warm layer of insulation to keep us going through the bitter cold. . .

Sticker App Stationery Review 2016

StickerApp // Oh, how I love stationery! It's one of life's simple pleasures, to open a new packet of pens or begin writing in a crisp, shiny new notebook. I have countless cupboards filled to the brim with pens, pencils, crayons, glitter, and now recently, stickers. I've always been a fan of using stickers, whether it be to decorate a letter, seal an envelope, or just add a lovely touch to any card or notebook. I was recently contacted by StickerApp, an online site that allows you to create customised stickers for any occasion and I was thrilled to order some stickers for myself.

Work Wear by F&F - Outfit of the Day

Work Wear // Work wear can be a bit of a challenge, particularly when you want to appear stylish, but also practical, professional and smart. It can be a struggle staying true to your personality whilst in the workplace, and as I've embarked into the big, bad world of work, this is something I've experienced. I'm lucky though, as most of the dresses I've collected over the years can be easily transformed for the office environment. Take this checked number from F&F for example - this old number is a solid staple, I really love the pattern, the thick texture and the over-the-knee length which is perfect for the colder, windy days.

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Oh Autumn - how I love the arrival of the colder months, the golden leaves and the endless supply for hot chocolate. Nevertheless, I find a part of me dreaming of those warm summer days spent by the beach and I miss that lovely feeling of hot sun on my skin. I'm sharing the last few pictures of Summer that were still on my phone - and find myself reminiscing of the time there were apples growing in the garden and the local funfair was in full swing. Autumn and Winter bring their own amount of loveliness, but there's something about Summer that you just can't beat.

Bright Pink Oasis Dress - Outfit of the Day

Pretty in Pink // Pink is a fantastic colour. It's a lively, vibrant and more importantly, fun colour to wear - and that's what fashion should be about, am I right?! I'm pretty ecstatic to be sharing this wonderful pink number with you all today! I won this beauty on eBay for four pounds (yes that's right, £4!!!) last week, and was thrilled when it arrived in all it's colourful splendour. It's originally from Oasis and fits like a glove - the dress features a subtle floral pattern, which is such a lovely touch.

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // You'll know from my previous post, that I have a slight obsession at the moment with pretty sunsets/ sunrises. I think it's something about the mellow, purple haze - I just find them very relaxing to look at, easy on the eyes and that's probably why I've been posting so many on my Instagram account. I'm still managing to share pictures from Summer - for example, that ice cream pic was taken back in August, when we had a scorcher of a day. Me and Owen loaded the car and headed down to the beach to spend the day in the sun and enjoyed treats like this one. Memories like that make me miss summer - I love Winter but there is nothing like having hot sun on your skin and not worrying to have to wear a jacket, or a dozen layers for that matter.

Green Jumper and Black Skirt - Outfit of the Day

The Green Jumper // In one of my recent posts, I talked about some new additions to my wardrobe - this faux leather skirt from Warehouse and dark green jumper from H&M - and I think the two go together rather nicely! I don't own many green items of clothing but couldn't resist this jumper! Sometimes it's great to step out of your clothing comfort zone and choose an item that is new to you - I was excited to wear a different colour and was so happy when this dark green turned out to be a winner - yay!

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Hello all, hope you've had a great week. I'm sharing yet another influx of pictures from my life - most of these pics were taking during the last days of summer, when the light was low, the sun was bright but the wind was harsh. I managed to snap some of the last of the summer flowers before they go to sleep for winter. I also recently finished reading 'I Capture The Castle' by Dodie Smith. It was a fantastic read and will no doubt be sharing a book review with you all soon.

Solo Solis Sunglasses Review 2016

Easy on the Eyes // I absolutely love the arrival of Winter, particularly the low sun that's been exceptionally bright, even tricking me into thinking that some mornings it's still summer? But when I step outside, I'm quickly reminded that it is definitely the start of the colder months. The sun's glare can be particularly tough on the eyes around this time of year especially in the early mornings on my way to work. I was recently contacted by Solo Solis, a wholesale sunglasses company who kindly offered me the chance to review a pair. I opted for these sleek, black and gold glasses that have the quirky name, 'Gold on The Ceiling', inspired by the Black Keys song of the same name... Off to YouTube we go!

Chanel Lookalike Dress - Outfit of the Day

The Chanel Lookalike // Avid blog readers and followers of mine will know that I have a slight obsession with eBay. I love the thrill of winning an auction or discovering a gem at an absolute bargain price. When I saw this dress online, I knew it had to be mine. The dim lighting and poor photography did no justice, but I could tell it would be a beauty. I was instantly drawn to the Chanel similarities. Obviously (and sadly), it's not a Chanel dress - it's actually from New Look, but I'm only sharing that secret with you! ;)

I've had a slight obsession with purple sunsets/ sunrises lately - I think because they are very relaxing and beautiful to look at - I mean, who doesn't love sunset and sunrise?! I've always been a huge fan of vibrant light, evening skies and low suns - hence the name of this blog, Electric Sunrise. One of my favourite moments to view in nature is a sunrise, and I'll continue to share ones that inspire me.

Kartel Watches Review 2016

Kartel Watches // As you'll probably know from previous posts, I love to collect costume jewellery, whether that be earrings or necklaces. However, slowly but surely, my watch collection has also been growing, and I am so grateful to now add this beautiful Kartel Watch to my collection. I was initially drawn to the big clock face and appealing rose gold details. The strap is made from genuine leather, making this a high-quality piece, perfect for any occasion - smart or casual. The navy blue strap is subtle and matches most of my items perfectly - sometimes navy can be softer than black or silver, and matches the rose gold clock face beautifully.

Blue and Navy Floral Dress - Outfit of the Day

Navy Blue // Navy has always been a colour that I rarely wear but it's one that I'm warming to immensely. It's a classic colour that looks chic with most things, but sadly often gets blindsided by black or grey. I won this dress on eBay last week, and I initially thought it was black. I was quite disappointed when it arrived and I soon realised the true shade was navy blue and pink florals. I'm not actually 100 % sold on this dress yet, but that's definitely the funny thing about eBay - you never know what something will look like until it arrives.
