Birthday Inspiration // Hello lovelies, I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and new year. Can you believe it’s already 2018? I have no idea where the time is going! I have finally emerged from my festive food coma and I'm ready to face the new year head on! It’s always a little daunting though, because for me, January is such a busy month. I’ve always got a lot of marking/ work to catch up on AND it’s also the major birthday month in my family. Not one, not two, not even three but SIX members of my family have their birthdays in January, and let me tell you, it’s a nightmare. Just when I thought all of my Christmas/ December shopping was done and dusted… Oh no, that's right... I need to head back out into the crazy town centre and battle my way through keen shoppers to find some bargains and birthday presents...

I find it particularly tricky to buy gifts for someone right after Christmas. I mean, surely they have received everything they need/ want? Or they have managed to get that thing that they really wanted for themselves, with 50% off in the sale? Hmmm, it’s difficult. But that’s when I jumped for joy when I read about the new Groupon feature, Birthday Gifts. Groupon are a fantastic company that offer deal-of-the-day recommendations for all sorts of products, services and experiences. I think it’s the perfect gift idea for that someone who already has everything, and the more I get older, the more I wish I could receive ‘experiences’ on my birthday, instead of actual gifts. So, what exactly do I mean by that? Well, call me old-fashioned but I would much rather head off on a spa weekend with my girlfriends or have a catch up with family over a prosecco filled afternoon tea, than just receive a generic gift card in the post. Don’t get me wrong, a generic gift card in the post is also amazing, but there is definitely something memorable about heading off on an adventure and enjoying a weekend  with loved ones that you know you’ll remember for years to come.

The new Groupon birthday gift page is a really innovative idea. Thanks to their amazing money off deals, buying that special gift for that special someone suddenly becomes very easy – and let me tell you, there really is something for everyone. From a relaxing spa weekend, to an exhilarating supercar driving experience, to a hilarious paintball session or  just enhancing your skills with a professional photography lesson, there is a wide selection of gifts and experience to choose from that would suit all the family.

2018 is the year of love, and what better way to show that than through a unique, memorable birthday experience offered by Groupon. I’ve actually just gone and bookmarked a couple of the gift pages because I’ve seen some deals that I know my friends and family will love – but I’m going to keep them top secret for now, so that the deal doesn’t run out, haha!
